Right to Produce Documents Within 15 Days
You switched vehicles this morning and your RC book is at home. The officer wants to mark it as a serious offence.
If your driving licence, RC, insurance, or PUC certificate is not with you at the time of the stop, you are entitled to produce them at the designated authority within 15 days. The officer cannot treat this as a non-compoundable offence on the spot.
Not carrying a document is different from not having one. The 15-day production window is a legal right, not a favour.
"Under MVA s.130(3), I have the right to produce my documents within 15 days at the designated authority. Please note this in the challan."
